The Beginning of the End

I'm back and better than ever! For this next film (portfolio project for A level Media), I have a very detailed idea that has been inspired by film, genre, and artists with a vintage style. This past weekend I watched both volumes of Kill Bill and the series and in all honesty it MOVED MY WORLD. I didn't know how inspired and creative one could feel after experiencing something so inspiring and creative.

Many important factors considered from Kill Bill series:
- mise-en-scene
- font type (for credits & title)
- dialogue (or lack there of)
- multiple shot angles
- lighting / colors

The short film story has nothing to do with Quentin Tarantino's gory plots, but the creative essence is one in the same. With anything that I do, whether it be covers of songs, paintings, or photography I love to incorporate a hint of something that is barely considered (I can't say "never been considered" because there are too many people in this world for something to have never been done before). My piece is about: 4 youngsters that are destined to create one of the most iconic bands in the history of the world.

Reflection- Marketing Campaign

The 'Wonderpaws' marketing campaign was a project composed of various sections. All sections such as the research, the product, and everything in between made sure the campaign were to be complete. Our process as a group was to develop research on two rescues, not knowing what they offered or how similar they were to 'Wonderpaws'. The concept was to find crucial factors and beneficial ideas and incorporate them into the campaign (if they weren't already implemented). Through the research it was very apparent that 'Wonderpaws' needed a bit more creativity and organization in regards to the actual marketing and promoting of the rescue. Such as the website needing more organization but as for creativity, merchandise could be sold. I believe this project will aid in my portfolio project because of how I can manage my time, being creative, and doing what's best to get the outcome the project deserves.

Transition

Shifting from AS media level to A has been smooth. Gradual. You really don't feel the difference since the transition was subtle (content-wise). A level doesn't seem like the second part of the class nor does it feel as if there were a break. It flows really nicely; it's a complete course.

I personally enjoy A level more. Although both AS and A level's recommendation list are at an equal pedestal of wonderfulness. I love the concept of sharing films and media in general, from this activity I've gained copious favorite films.

Prepared, experienced, and knowledgeable are a few words describing how i feel having passed AS level and settled into A.

The Film Opening

The final product. Hope you find it as wonderful as I do. Thank you for your patience in this journey. It's not perfect, but that's life. In the end, perfection is not what is going to make you happy. It's how you invest your time, whether it is you trying to reach something that doesn't exist or if you spent it trying to find yourself and reach your truth. That in the end is happiness, you having found yourself, your purpose, your truth. It's a constant voyage. It takes a lifetime, but that's the beauty of life. Finding what makes you happy then sharing it to spread that happiness. If it doesn't benefit the world in an artistic, a peaceful, a spiritual or a positive way then keep searching. Remember to share your peace, your art and your happiness. I'm rambling but I wanted to end declaring that this project pushed me a step further to gaining my truth. Hopefully, it had that same effect on you.

Creative Critical Reflection

Not that creative, but it sure is critical!

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

My product challenges conventions because it is an issue in which is not portrayed enough in films. The social group that the film contains is of a gay couple. The humans that take part in the LGBTQ community deserve their rights, deserve peace, and deserve to be equally as integrated into films as everybody else is. In this generation, this topic is very important and popular. Meanwhile, there are only a handful of films that have included this social group. We have to shed light on their situations because they are humans as well and should not be shunned. It challenges conventions by including this social group. The normality of the world is to allow a woman and a man to be the stars of a film. Or have gay character, but make him or her very discrete. Humanity should be accepting or at least respectful towards the people taking part of this community, you do not have to encourage it or even watch films if it is still bothersome to your mentality but at least know they are humans and deserve the same as everyone else.

How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

For this project I used a Canon Rebel T3, a tripod, and the software iMovie.

The Canon Rebel worked very well and has a great lighting fix because it works for many situations such as photoshoots, landscapes and videos. Yet, when using the camera to focus softly from one subject to another, the technical aspect was difficult.

The tripod was to have steadier shots and proportioned angles. It worked wonderfully when filming the walking scenes in the beginning. Although the scenes having resulted somewhat trembling, it would have been worse without the tripod.

Lastly, I used the software iMovie (in which I explained profoundly in another blogpost). It allowed me to use distinct settings that I believed were not on WeVideo.
